Rough Waffle Cloth

戦後からずっと同じ規格で長く愛され続きているふきん。戦後、欧米に百貨店へ輸出用として作られた粗生地。ウレタンスポンジの無かった時代に食器洗いのスポンジ代わりにこの粗生地で食器を洗っていたことが生地の目の硬さの由来です。格子状の凹凸が汚れをひっかけてきれいにします。

ニット製品の為、織物とは異なり、何枚かにたたんで手の中に収めた時の弾力が非常に使いやすいです。織物と比較すると給水量が多く、たくさんの食器をふくことができ、また生地目が粗いので乾きが早いです。食器だけでなく、テーブルを拭いたりするのにも適しています。

The clothes were used as dishwashing sponge until urethane sponges were invented. The hardness of the fabric originated to being used as dishwashing sponges.Grid-pattern like roughness easily makes dirt away.

As knit unlike woven fabric, it is easier to use with piled up. More water absorbent than fabric. Can be wiped more dishes compared to knit. Loose texture makes quick dry. It can be used as table clothes.
